Gubbio (Italy), 30 July 2016. One hundred thirty drivers will take part in the IFMAR World Championship 1/10 IC Track (for radio-controlled car models) to be held in Gubbio, Italy, from 4 to 14 August on the “Mario Rosati” track, a very well-known facility in the world of this kind of racing. Drivers will represent 24 nationalities. These numbers are already confirming a great success for the local Club Automodellistico 5 Colli, organizers of the international event thanks to the International Federation of Model Auto Racing. Many of the big names in the provisional but almost definitive entrylist already took part in the World Championship Warm Up held in Gubbio at the end of June and won by Italian Dario Balestri (Capricorn) on German Robert Pietsch (Mugen Seiki) and fellow countryman Alessio Mazzeo (Serpent). Then other drivers came in the Umbrian city to test on track during July. Among them Swedish Alexander Hagberg. The reigning World Champion is ready to defend his 2014 title conquered in Thailand. At the end of one week of testing the 26 year old official X-Ray driver commented on the forthcoming World Championship: “I expect there will be a very high competition also because it is a race in Italy and there are many good Italian drivers who know the track very well. It will be very hot so it will be difficult to hit engine setup and engine configuration. If the temperature is very high the engine setup will be critical but in these conditions also you need to find a good car setup to have a consistent car. So I expect a very difficult World Championship with a very high level of competition”.
These are the 24 nations to be represented in Gubbio: Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Monaco, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Slovakia, Germany, Holland, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, Brazil, United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.
